Course Description:
This live online, interactive course presents an up-to-date overview of the legal and ethical responsibilities related to MFT, LCSW, and LPCC practice. Recent changes in the law will be highlighted to ensure that registrants stay updated with current laws and best practices for their profession. All Pre-Licensed BBS registrants who renew their registration after January 1, 2023 are required to complete a minimum of 3 hours of continuing education (CE) in CA Law and Ethics, during each renewal period. This course fulfills this requirement (registrants must certify, under penalty of perjury, that they have completed this required coursework).
Learning Objectives:
- Assess and manage legal responsibilities pertaining to both mandated and permitted exceptions.
- Assess and manage ethical responsibilities pertaining to informed consent, client records, treatment of minors, and HIPAA requirements.
- Identify recent changes to the law and the impact of these changes for clinicians.
Course Completion Requirements:
Attendees must be present for the duration of the training as evidenced by the attendance report generated by Zoom, as well as complete the course evaluation to receive a certificate of credit.
Evaluation:
The course evaluation is accessible in your student account. After completing the training, log into your GGS student account to complete the course evaluation.
How certificate is issued:
Upon verification of attendance and completion of the course evaluation, each participant will be able to access a personal CE certificate of attendance in their student account.
